No Claims Bonus

No Claims Bonus (NCB) – What You Need to Know

Your No Claims Bonus (NCB), which can also be referred to No Claims Discount (NCD) is a reward for driving without making a claim and can help reduce the cost of your car insurance. Below is everything you need to know about how NCB works, how to prove it, and what to do if you don’t have your documents.

What Is a No Claims Bonus?

Your NCB builds up for each year you drive without making a claim.

The more years you have, the bigger the potential saving on your premium. That’s why insurers usually ask for proof of your NCB when you take out or renew a policy.

How Can I Prove My No Claims Bonus?

The most common way to prove your NCB is with a No Claims Bonus certificate from your previous insurer.

This is usually:

  • A document showing the number of claim free years

  • Issued at cancellation or renewal

  • Dated within the last 2 years (depending on insurer rules)

You can upload your NCB proof quickly and securely through your MyPizza customer portal if requested.

What Should I Do If I Don’t Have NCB Proof?

If you don’t have your NCB certificate yet:

  • Contact your previous insurer and ask them to send it to you

  • Upload it to your MyPizza portal as soon as you receive it

If proof isn’t provided within the required timeframe, your insurer may:

  • Remove the NCB from your policy

  • Recalculate your premium

This could result in an increase in price, so it’s best to provide proof as early as possible.

Will You Accept My NCB If I Was Not the Main Policyholder?

Insurers will only accept NCB earned as the main policyholder.

NCB is usually not valid if it was earned as:

  • A named driver

  • On a company or fleet policy

However, some insurers may consider exceptions. If you’re unsure, let us know and we’ll check what options may be available.

How Do I Get My NCB Certificate from Pizza?

If your previous policy was with Pizza Insurance:

  • Your NCB certificate is issued when your policy ends

  • It may be sent by email or made available in your online portal

If you can’t find it:

  • Contact us via PizzaChat or email [email protected]

  • We can help confirm whether an NCB certificate is available and resend it if needed

Uploading Your NCB Proof

If we ask you to provide NCB proof:

  1. Log in to your MyPizza customer portal

  2. Go to the Documents or Upload files section

  3. Select No Claims Bonus (NCB)

  4. Upload a clear photo or PDF of your certificate

Top tip: Keep a copy of your NCB certificate somewhere safe. You’ll usually need it again if you switch insurers or renew your policy in the future.
